Responsibilities

The ITA Intelligence & Investigations (I&I) Department is now looking for a committed and passionate Junior Intelligence Analyst with a potential start date on the first week of January 2025.

The Junior Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for conducting all-source intelligence research and analysis, to support investigations into potential Anti-Doping Rule Violations (“ADRVs”), and the development of intelligence reporting to uphold other I&I activities.

The new team member will have a particular focus on using social media intelligence to develop investigative and intelligence targeting products, as well as maintaining and enhancing core I&I tools and databases, including manager vendor relationships.

The new colleague - reporting to the ITA I&I Manager and/or Head of I&I - will work closely with all members of the I&I Department and other ITA Departments, and regularly collaborate with external stakeholders, operating remotely from the Branch Office in Budapest. 

Key elements of the job role:
  • Collecting, evaluating, and analysing open-source and social media intelligence to produce actionable intelligence products in support of broader I&I activities.
  • Communicating analytical findings in a clear and concise way, in both presentations and in written reports, in support of operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Maintaining and enhancing the I&I Department’s use of intelligence collection and investigative case management systems.
  • Being a proactive first point of contact between the I&I Department and relevant external vendors of the I&I tools.
  • Coordinating regularly with counterparts in other ITA Departments (Testing, Science & Medical, Legal Affairs, etc.) as necessary.
  • Liaising with external stakeholders to maintain best practices and promote knowledge-based exchanges in the field of open-source and social media intelligence.

Requirements

  • A genuine passion for social media and/or the exploitation of open-source information to support intelligence and/or investigations activities.
  • An understanding of relevant open-source and/or social media collection and/or analysis tools, or ability and desire to rapidly adapt to use of such tools.
  • Dedication to protecting the integrity of sport and its athletes.
  • An ability to think creatively and innovatively toward answering investigative questions.
  • Strong critical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple case files/tasks simultaneously, including under tight and competing deadlines.
  • Impeccable standards of integrity and ethics and experience handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and experience in managing complex external relationships.
  • A team player with a “can do” attitude.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • The ITA Budapest Branch Office can only offer cooperation to people who reside in Hungary and have citizenship from EU or EFTA member states.

Nice-to-have

  • Higher Education degree (or equivalent) in any relevant I&I and/or sports field (such as but not limited to intelligence, criminal or data analysis, criminal sciences, sports science).
  • Experience in providing analytical, technical, and/or research support to intelligence operations and/or investigations.
  • Knowledge of the international sport environment, sports integrity in general, and in particular the anti-doping movement, its regulatory framework and stakeholders.
  • Working proficiency in other languages.
