Department and Project

T-Systems customer Toll Collect is operating a truck tolling solution for highways and national roads in Germany. They are transforming themself to an IT operator within the ministry of transport and are going to use there tolling data and experience for additional services (like parking lot planning, waybill handling and more).Transition is a move from T-Systems DC in Munich (classic) to MD/Biere and a modern multi-cloud individual environment. Transition started, application migration is planning phase.A new cloud architecture and operating environment with automation, IaC and customer ordering portal is under construction with other infrastructure and operation squads. The network team needs additional help in setting up the network environment and support application migrations.

Main tasks

As a Fortinet ICT Engineer:

• Get involved with two private cloud environments over two datacentres (Magdeburg and Biere)
• ~250 physical servers (FMO) – mainly virtualized (~1.000 virtual servers)
• Totally different and new network concept in FMO than in CMO
• Full stack operation by T-Systems from HW, Operating Systems, Virtualization Platforms, Container Platform, Databases and applications – Dev, Test and Prod environments
• Tools and processes for operation support needs to be build and setup (monitoring, operation, automation, lifecycle, capacity management …)
• Support application migration (FW changes, routing …)
• Own switches, firewalls, VPN-gateways to be maintained and operated
• FortiWeb (WAF) and FortiAuthenticator (OTP) as an addon
• Security level implementation (based on BSI)
• Automation with Ansible AWX

Background and required skills:

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in the following areas: Computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, natural science, mathematics, business or equivalent work experience in IT
• Networking: Deep understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, routers, and VPNs.
• Operating Systems: Proficiency in Windows Server, Active Directory, and/or Linux/Unix.
• Scripting and Programming: Basic to advanced skills in scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash, or Python, and a grasp of coding.
• Security: Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.
• Hardware and Software: Familiarity with computer hardware, software, and troubleshooting.
• Databases: Understanding of database design, implementation, and management can be beneficial.

Advantage:

• Experience working in SAFe environment.
