Join our global Operational Planning and Capacity Management (OPCM) team as a Data Scientist and you’ll contribute to the mission of continuously improving Sanofi’s R&D Operations by ensuring integrated and aligned R&D Planning (P) and Resource (R) Management, and by leveraging Business Intelligence (BI) solutions for effective decision making.

The Data scientist role regroups several responsibilities:

Data analytics

• Work with OPCM and business teams to understand Data Science and AI-based solution requirements and translate them into technical needs.
• Decrypt and translate business problems into technical solutions and to vulgarize complex and technical topics to non-experts.
• Write management rules for cleaning and structuring databases, statistical analyses plan with mock-up tables/graphs associated.
• Develop scripts for data extraction, cleaning, management and visualization
• Analyze data using traditional statistical methods
• Create and test machine learning algorithms for predictive analyses
• Build model training data and continuously improve models
• Create meaningful visual representations that enable informed decision making.
• Ensure maintenance of program developed.
• Write and maintain technical documentation, user guides and provide the training to end users.
• Communicate and present results and solutions to business teams
• Lead and contribute at various transversal initiatives and working group related to data sciences and analyses, and web applications
• Remain up to date with emerging technologies and explore innovative ways to enhance existing solutions or develop new ones. Network inside and outside the Company to stay competitive in fields of expertise.

Development of web apps

• Work in collaboration with stakeholders to clarify expectations and functionality on webapp.
• Design web apps with code-based frameworks such as RShiny, Shiny for Python, Dash or Streamlit.
• Work in collaboration with transversal team (e.g., BSM, digital team) to establish connection with data, software and webapp developed.

Key Relationships

You will collaborate cross-functionally, as follows with:

• OPCM Functions heads and team
• OPCM RDPM and Data analytics BSO
• Digital teams (RDPM, Data fabric, Environment Platform owner)
• RDPM Business solutions owner
• Stakeholders

Experience:

• 3-5 years of analytical experience with proven deliverables on data analytics (statistical analysis and modelling, and machine learning algorithms) and web application development;
• Strong experience in the language Python and R;
• Ideally, experience in planning and project management, for understanding requirements and work efficiently on the specifications.
• Ideally, experience in a Pharma/Biotech company to understand overall R&D drug development
• As a plus, Acquired knowledge in the Business Operational activities in scope of activities (Clinical, CMC, Research, etc.).

Technical skills: 

• Proficiency in statistical analysis and data modelling techniques such as regression analysis, machine learning algorithms, time series analysis, and classification methods.
• Expertise with core programming languages like Python, R and SQL for data manipulation, data visualization, statistical analysis, and model development.
• Mastering development of webapp with code-based frameworks such as RShiny, Dash, Shiny for Python …
• Attention to detail for trouble shooting issues and ensuring data accuracy in all output.

Education: 

Master’s degree in Data Science or in Informatics or in Mathematics or in Statistics or in Artificial Intelligence, or similar

Language(s):

• Strong English skills (verbal and written), ability to exchange fluently in a global environment
• Proficiency in French would be a plus
