JOB SUMMARY: 

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Manager responsible for managing the hotel’s accounting operations with a primary focus on Hungarian statutory bookkeeping, tax compliance, and coordination of external and internal audits. Ensures full alignment between local statutory requirements (Hungarian GAAP) and corporate (US GAAP / USALI) reporting. Supports the Director of Finance in safeguarding assets, maintaining strong internal controls, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.   

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES 

Accounting Operations: 

• Coordinate and implement accounting processes, audits, and SOP compliance. 

• Ensure statutory records and accounting treatments comply with Hungarian Accounting Act, local tax rules, and other applicable regulations. 

• Monitors all taxes that apply, ensuring that taxes are current, collected and/or accrued. 

• Manage all postings, reconciliations, month-end and year-end closings for statutory purposes. 

• Ensure alignment and reconciliation between statutory books, US GAAP books, and Marriott reporting systems. 

• Verify group contracts and perform credit reference checks when required. 

• Managing and preparing balance sheet reconciliations  

• Maintain communication with NAV and local authorities; manage tax inspections. 

• Lead the annual statutory audit, prepare audit files, schedules, and respond to auditor queries. 

• Act as the primary liaison with auditors, tax advisors, legal advisors, and authorities. 

• Support US GAAP month-end closing in accordance with Marriott accounting policies and USALI guidelines. 

• Review P&L, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules. 

Financial Accuracy & Compliance: 

• Monitor profits, and losses, ensuring proper documentation and compliance. 

• Maintain a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets. 

• Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solve problems. 

• Compiles, codes, categorizes, calculates, tabulates, audits, or verifies information or data. 

• Achieves and exceeds goals including performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc. 

Technical Expertise: 

• Apply up-to-date accounting knowledge and best practices. 

• Use financial systems and tools to manage data, spreadsheets, and reporting. 

• Ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations. 

Collaboration & Support: 

• Provide guidance to other departments on accounting and budgeting policies. 

• Assist with training and mentoring team members on accounting procedures. 

• Support the Finance Director with complex reporting tasks and process improvements. 

• University degree (bachelor’s or higher) 

• Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience  

• Fluent in both English and Hungarian (written and spoken) 

• Advantage: Experience in a 5-star hotel environment 

• Will be entitled participate in the Marriott International Bonus Plan
